There is sand on the floor,
Sand in my hair,
Under my finger-nails,
Following the making of my pieces for Te Uru Contemporary Gallery, I’m still cleaning up sand from my studio. I suspect I will be for some time.
Made through the erosion of rock through wind and water, sand is a fine material that makes a huge mess when worked with (if you’re me). But, there’s something lovely about working with a natural material that’s been created over a very long period of time.
Feeling the weight of the ages running through your fingers as you use a small sample of the past.
