I was lucky enough to be part of the set-up and manning team of Handshake 3 at Handwerkmesse, Munich, and spent 10 days with inspirational artists, gallery owners, and collectors.
Being at the ‘Oscars’ of Contemporary Jewellery and seeing the work of the international jewellers, made me realize just how talented and unique New Zealand’s makers’ approach to our art is. We each have our own voice, and it is unlike any of the other voices within our small nation, or in the international jewellery scene.
I left Munich with a sense of pride that we’re doing things our way, and it’s outstanding and standing out.
