Transforming an object into a completely new form is immensely satisfying.  Equally I’ve discovered is approaching it with watercolour.  Looking at something with liquid paint and then painting it back into existence requires focus and attention to detail.  This is a process  I hadn’t given much time to over the years.   At the end of it I wasn’t sure what I preferred – the painting of the object or the object making itself.

The action of painting  was  meditative and over winter I spent many a happy evening doing so.  All credit to this approach goes to the enthusiasm of my 7 year old neighbour Isabella.  A keen artist and prolific painter,  Isabella is always keen to paint and for me to join her.  Buoyed by her enthusiasm and wowed by her natural talent and flare with colour it leaves me wondering about the lack of colour in my own.  Something to work on in the future…
