Its hard to map my handshake journey so far..I started out at a bit of a low point, a bit unsure of myself and my abilities, unsure of my direction..I can say the road has been pretty tough personally but very worthwhile. alongside the handshake4 shows and masterclasses I have taken part in three international shows had my jewellery featured at New Zealand fashion week by Salasai  and in a fashion editorial. Attended my first jewellery symposium, Spent time researching and discovering the techniques involved in the paua shell jewellery made by my grandfather during wonderful visits to my uncles workshop in Marton. written proposals set up community projects and created new exhibition opportunities and made some great work along the way. I have been supported all the way through by my loving and light giving Whanau, the Handshake team and Judy, who has helped me define my space and to see the value in my own story and and practice as a female maker.

Today Sam Kelly and I open the door of new Contemporary jewellery studio to public here in In New Plymouth. It has been monumental effort but we did it!! a massive thanks to everyone who has made it possible you can check us out here:The Jewel and the Jeweller.
