In late August, I had gone so wide on technique and making, I was left thinking what have I done? Perspective had left me. This is where having access to a mentor and being part of the Handshake project came into its own.
I contacted Francis, sent her with images and asked for feedback. She thoughtfully collated them, talked about the highs and lows of exhibiting and the need to be well prepared and focused. Sound advice, the perfect tonic for nerves. Curating the works for the show ended up being lots of fun. Underneath the works, feminine energies, south pacific landscapes and creative process lay dormant. Interestingly, in the expanding field of contemporary jewellery and objects, I managed to make pieces with the body very much in mind. So what about that pink volcano?
